FOX have revealed its winter premiere dates for all new and returning shows, including American Idol and Touch, as well as the debut of Kevin Williamson's much buzzed-about The Following.
American Idol kicks into gear on Wednesday, January 16, at 8pm ET/PT for a two-hour premiere, followed by another episode that Thursday, January 17, at 8pm ET/PT. Ryan Seacrest returns to host, along with an all-new panel of judges featuring Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban, as well as returning judged Randy Jackson.
The Following -- which we are quite excited about, having seen the very cool pilot -- centers on ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), who's called out of retirement to track down the diabolical serial killer mastermind named Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). The series will launch on Monday, January 21, at 9pm ET/PT.
Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, also returns for its second season beginning Friday, February 1, at 9pm ET/PT. As the story shifts from New York to Los Angeles, single father Martin Bohm (Sutherland) and his gifted son Jake (David Mazouz) find themselves at the center of a mysterious global conspiracy involving a teenage girl with the same abilities as Jake's.
Touch will replace Fringe on Fridays, once that series has wrapped up its fifth and final thirteen-episode season. On Monday's, The Following will be replacing The Mob Doctor, which has been getting incredibly low ratings - to the extent that many expected FOX to pull it by now. But it seems like the network may just let the show air its entire initial (and no doubt only) thirteen episodes through the end of the year.
