App Store Update: December 13

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy – (Freemium)

Square Enix's ultra-fun 3DS Final Fantasy rhythm title is now available on iOS! The game comes with two songs for free, and the rest must be purchased for $0.99 apiece or in $2.99 bundles.

Fluxx – ($2.99)

Fluxx is a card game where each card played changes the rules of the game itself. Half the fun is just keeping track of how to win! The digital version of this physical card game hit is out now.

Call of Mini: Brawlers – ($0.99)

Triniti Interactive's Call of Mini franchise rolls on with Brawlers, its take on the Double Dragon-style 2D side-scrolling fighter. Expect plenty of ranged and melee weapons, and plenty of zombies to bash.

Monsters, Inc. Run – ($0.99)

Disney has partnered up with the studio behind Mega Run for this platforming endless runner starring Mike and Sulley.

Potshot Pirates – ($0.99)

This first-person physics destruction title will obviously remind people of Angry Birds, but to us it looks more like a 3D version of Siege Hero.

Metal Slug 1 – ($1.99)

SNK's classic returns once again! What more is there to say about Metal Slug? Whether on foot or in the titular mech itself, blasting through Metal Slug's manly stages is fun on any platform.

Alpha Zero – ($0.99)

We haven't had a chance to dive into Alpha Zero yet, but our initial impression is that this might be the latest solid option for gamers hoping to scratch their shmup itch.

Blink Walk – ($1.99)

Blink Walk is another promising title we want to spend more time with. It's not often a video game puts players in the shoes of an autistic little girl.

Wheel of Fortune – ($2.99)

The latest incarnation of Sony's eternally-popular word-guessing game show is now available. Over 1,000 total puzzles are included, with hundreds more available via In-App Purchases.

Monster Truck Destruction – ($0.99)

I like artsy, experimental games as much as the next guy. But sometimes you just want to crush some cars with a monster truck. Monster Truck Destruction scores bonus points for including real licensed cars, including crowd favorite Bigfoot.

Football Manager Handheld 2013 – ($9.99)

Football Manager iOS offerings continue to improve. This year's edition includes real player photos, Irish leagues and better player comparison tools.

APO Snow – ($1.99)

APO Snow separates itself from other mobile snow sports titles by including several real-world X Game participants.

Middle Manager of Justice – (Freemium)

Bring justice back into the workplace with this, Double Fine’s latest intriguing game design.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! – ($2.99)

Cooking Mama’s got nothing on David Galindo’s newest take on the virtual food prep genre.

Price Drops

Metal Slug 3 – ($1.99)

Metal Slug 1’s on sale as a new release, so SNK’s Metal Slug 3 has gone on sale too.

Blazing Star – ($0.99)

That’s not all from SNK today, however, as this vintage shmup is also price-slashed for a limited time.

The King of Fighters i-2012 – ($3.99)

And to cover all of SNK’s bases, here’s one of their fighters. On sale today for cheaper than normal too.

Alien Breed – ($0.99)

Team 17’s modern remake of this old-school top-down shooting classic is yours for under a dollar if you move fast.

The Bard’s Tale – (Free)

Then here come the freebies. First up are the classic adventures of everyone’s favorite wandering minstrel.

Squids – (Free)

Then we’ve got the critically-praised Squids, which has a new digital comic adaptation now too.

Thor: Son of Asgard – (Free)

Take up Mjonir and dish out some Lightning God justice for free.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 for iPad – (Free)

Or take up a set of golf clubs and dish out some justice on the back 9.

Fly With Me – (Free)

Lastly, enjoy the adventures of some birds who aren’t so angry.

Updates

Wild Blood – ($6.99)

One player is the Juggernaut and all others are trying to take him down in Wild Blood’s new, just-released multiplayer mode.

Dream of Pixels – ($2.99)

The whimsical game of “Reverse Tetris” has 40 new puzzles for you to play.

Rock(s) Rider – (Free)

Dozens of new levels, challenges, skins and more have been added to this bike-riding adventure.

Minigore 2: Zombies – ($4.99)

Well whaddya know, we just reviewed this one and its first update, adding a new Hardcore mode, has just gone live.

Where’s My Perry? – ($0.99)

Dr. Doof takes center stage in the latest batch of new, free levels for this Where’s My Water spin-off.

Avengers Initiative – ($6.99)

And this brawler finally has a new playable character! Step aside, Hulk, because Captain America is here to dispense some violent justice.

Wreck-It Ralph – ($0.99)

Finally, this compilation of three games in one package has expanded to four – Turbo Time, the old-school racing game from the Wreck-It Ralph film, is now playable as a free update!

That’s it for today! If you haven't already, subscribe to the App Store Update via email. It’s convenient!
