EverQuest Next Not Planned For PlayStation 4 Yet

EverQuest Next may eventually be released on PlayStation 4, but the PC version is currently the team's main focus.

In an interview with Eurogamer, SOE's David Georgeson explained the company's past experience with the likes of DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 meant the PS4 was an obvious candidate for an eventual release, but that isn't the plan right now.

"We're very serious about this being a PC-orientated launch," he said."Now, you're dumb not to explore other options with a business of this type, but we're very serious about developing for the PC.

"You know the company knows a lot about the PlayStation 4 - look at DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 - so we have a lot of people becoming extraordinarily knowledgeable with that box. We're not adverse to the idea, but we're not going down that path yet."

Announced earlier this month, EverQuest Next hopes to reinvigorate the genre through a mixture of destructible environments and the fact every realm will evolve over time to become totally unique. A diverse class combination system and range of social features will also be part of the package.

EverQuest Next is targeted for release some time in 2014.
