Game of Thrones: Season 3 Premiere Date Teaser

On the heels of the first teaser poster being released for Game of Thrones: Season 3, HBO aired a new teaser promo Sunday night.

Like the poster, this is the most tease-y of teasers - pretty much just giving you the date Game of Thrones returns, and a few bits of intriguing voice over dialogue, much like the earliest Season 2 ads. But hey, the campaign has begun, which means more is to come...

First Game of Thrones: Season 3 Teaser Poster Released

HBO have released the first teaser poster for Game of Thrones: Season 3 and it's... Well, a pretty stark image, if you'll excuse the pun. It's basically just numbers, with the date of the show's return. Well, there are some swords in the first zero!

But look, at this point, we're all just psyched to see more of this show...

Marvel Unveils All-Female Fearless Defenders

Teased in a new teaser a couple of weeks back, Marvel has unveiled its latest title, an all-female superhero series called Fearless Defenders, written by Cullen Bunn with art from Will Sliney. The series will star Valkyrie and Misty Knight as well as introduce some new female characters to the Marvel Universe. Following Fear Itself, Bunn was one of the writers that tackled the enjoyable follow-up series called Fear Itself: The Fearless which, perhaps not surprisingly, featured Valkyrie in a prominent role.

In an interview with Newsarama, Bunn said, "You've got Misty, who's a very street-level character. And you've got Valkyrie, who's a goddess. So you've got very different backgrounds, and I think they will see their potential teammates very differently, and I think you'll see that the two of them have some differences of opinion on who would be the right team for what they're going to be facing."

He added, "This will also be a book that gives us a great opportunity to showcase the women of the Marvel Universe. You'll be seeing a lot of characters in the book who may not necessarily be in the core team, but will have the opportunity to guest-star and rotate into the book."

Bunn also revealed that Dani Moonstar will be another member of this new Defenders team, though the entire team won't be present right out of the gate in issue #1.  The writer also coyly dodged a question about the possible inclusion of the Wasp, who was recently brought back in the pages of The Avengers, so take that for what it's worth.

For more on the Fearless Defenders, head on over to Newsarama.

More Nostalgia-Laden Angry Birds Star Wars Teasers Released

Rovio continues to make full use of the Star Wars brand to promote its upcoming mash-up Angry Birds Star Wars. Following the initial "That's No Moon!" teaser trailer the Finnish mobile game maker has released two more teasers that re-use footage from the original Star Wars trilogy in... interesting ways:

These teasers are still lacking any kind of detail on how Angry Birds Star Wars actually plays. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to see the game itself in motion before it launches. Angry Birds Star Wars is due out for PC, Mac, iOS, Android and Windows Phone on November 8.

Carrie Teaser Trailer Debuts

A couple of days after it was first shown at New York Comic Con, the teaser trailer for the new movie version of Stephen King's Carrie has made its online debut, via Yahoo.

Carrie Bloodies Up New York Comic Con!

The word teaser is most certainly key here, as the preview consists of just a single shot - but one that shows that this version of Carrie (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) is going to cause some serious damage.

Obsidian's Project Eternity Gets Kickstarter Funding

Project Eternity, the new Kickstarter-funded project from Obsidian Entertainment that was revealed last week after a teaser countdown, has hit its fundraising goal in under three days.

Since launching on Friday with a target of $1.1 million, funding for the isometric, party-based RPG is currently sitting at around $1.5 million.

As a result of this, the company has introduced a number of 'stretch goals'; funding thresholds that, if reached, will mean the developers will expand upon their original vision for the game thanks to the extra funding.

While the base game was due to launch with three races, five classes, and five companions, once funding passed $1.4 million this morning, the company promised to increase this to four races, six classes and six companions.

Should funding hit $1.6 million the game will be made available on Mac and a new major storyline will be added. At $1.8 million, there’ll be a further new playable race, class, and companion, while crossing the $2 million mark guarantees the addition of player housing.

The final announced stretch goal is at $2.2 million, when Obsidian will introduce a new region, faction and another companion as well as Linux, apparently. More surprises have been promised should funding hit $2.4 million, but the company clearly doesn't want to jinx anything with 29 days still to go.

Also on the horizon is the prospect of the game becoming DRM free, and the addition of a new $5,000 tier as it apparently sold out too quickly. With all the backer rewards currently being slated for an April 2014 delivery, we can assume that that's when the game is aimed for. We just hope that adding all these extra goodies doesn't lead to any delays!

Meet the New Thunderbolts

Last week, Marvel showed off this teaser:

Now, they've revealed over at Newsarama that writer Daniel Way and artist Steve Dillon will be relaunching Thunderbolts for Marvel NOW! with quite an impressive new line-up. The team will be led by Red Hulk ("Thunderbolt" Ross!) and have membership by Elektra, Venom, Deadpool, and Frank Castle himself, the Punisher. I've never considered Frank much of a team player, but perhaps the outcome of Punisher: War Zone will be leaving him in a different place.

In any case, the book's editor, Jordan White, told Newsarama, "T-Bolts has gone through quite a few shifts over the years, some more radical than others. This one is going to be a pretty big change in that none of the characters or plotlines from the previous series are carrying over. It's a new take, but one that is grounded in that original idea that has always been woven into the fabric of the series, the hero/villain dichotomy, and characters bridging the gap between them. If you look at our roster, every one of our characters is a character who started out as a villain in their first appearances but who has, over the years, made the shift to hero... or at least antihero."

Now that one of the books behind the latest teasers has been revealed, I would expect to hear about the rest very soon. I should note that it's unclear whether or not this will have any effect on Jeff Parker's Dark Avengers series, which was renamed from Thunderbolts earlier this year.

Obsidian's Countdown Continues With New Details

Update: The teaser site for Obsidian's new RPG project we told you about yesterday has been updated, revealing more details about the mysterious "Project X".

The most important change to take note of is the fact that the number four has now become a three, revealing it to be a countdown rather than an indication of what the title may be. This means we should get more answers when the number reaches zero, which will happen on Friday.

New text has also appeared though, which reads, "The book unread is unwritten. The reason we don't explain it is the reason we use it. Its power is in its mystery. That is the Leaden Key, in part, in whole. Is it clear?"

"Digging for truth buries the seeker."

Though that's the only text visible on the page, a quick look its source code reveals a bit more: "Two centuries ago, your divine champion told the people of Dyrwood to grovel at his feet. If you've come on pilgrimage to the blasted crater that was our reply, Godhammer Citadel is *that* way."

So, does this give us any crucial hints about what the game is? The fact the number has changed makes Dungeon Siege 4 a less likely candidate than it was yesterday, but it's still possible. While Obsidian has spent a fair amount of time in the past working on other company's IPs, there's nothing to suggest this couldn't be a brand new endeavour of its own.

We'll find out more over the coming days.

Original Story: A teaser for what appears to be a countdown to the reveal of a brand new game has appeared on popular RPG developer Obsidian's website.

The landing page currently features the number four enveloped by an Ouroboros, an ancient symbol depicting a snake or a dragon eating its own tail. The text below reads: "What do the words mean? Nothing. The Dirge of Eír Glanfath is sound without form, a lone voice crying out in mourning because it must."

Clicking on the image takes you to forum landing page for Project X Speculation & Discussion where Obsidian fans have begun to speculate on what the words mean.

Described as a forum for "Obsidian's next RPG endeavor" it teases said game is so secret "not even its project codename is yet being revealed."

Stick around for updates and speculation.

Marvel Teases New Deadpool Series

Any Deadpool fan knows that Wade Wilson is kind of a fan of Tex-Mex food, specifically chimichangas.Well, in their latest teaser -- following hints for new Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk creative teams -- Marvel Comics has unveiled that Deadpool will be getting a relaunch in November as part of Marvel NOW! Unless there's someone else you know that loves chimichangas this much:

Writer Daniel Way is just wrapping up his long stint with Deadpool, so Marvel NOW! seems like the perfect opportunity to do something new with the character. The names that appear on the teaser should be indicative of the direction as well -- it seems that comedians and occasional comic book scribes Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan will be scripting the series with who we assume is fan-favorite creator Tony Moore on art duties.

Chimichangas, anyone?
