EG fights for its playoff life against SlayerS

This is it guys! SlayerS versus Evil Geniuses match is coming and there’s nothing better than those two teams battling it off to see who takes the first spot in Premier Division Group A and who might be endangered by placing third.

  • Evil Geniuses line-up: Stephano (Z) JYP (P) Puma (T) ThorZaIN (T) HuK (P) IdrA (Z) DeMusliM (T) Machine (Z) iNcontroL (P) Suppy (Z) LzGaMeR (Z)
  • SlayerS line-up: Alicia (P) Brown (P) Cella (Z) CoCa (Z) Genius (P) Min (Z) Miya (Z) MMA (T) Puzzle (P) Ryung (T) YugiOh (Z)

 Potential starters

Evil Geniuses: DeMusliM (T), IdrA (Z), PuMa (T)

Based on their first match in IPTL Season 1 against Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses might go for one of those three players. DeMusliM as one of the currently underperforming players on EG might be chosen to go first again in order to snipe his opponent for a quick 1-0 lead or just to see who is his teammates opponent early on. PuMa was a second pick in their opening match, where he scored two wins against Zenio and TLO. As for IdrA we cannot be sure of whether or not he’ll perform, but if he has a good day he might try take some games away from Team EG’s opponents. As it was mentioned in our Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses prediction his game is very unstable, thus it wouldn’t be a bad idea to put him out as a starter.

SlayerS: CoCa (Z), Genius (P), Miya (Z)

Again, first starter for SlayerS could be CoCa who took out Dream in the opening game against Dream. Although Genious hasn’t been used thus far he is a potential threat especially against foreigners. Miya was SlayerS second pick in match against MVP where he won against finale and Vampire.

Key Players

Evil Geniuses: Stephano (Z), PuMa (T), JYP (P)

Besides Stephano who will probably be used as their last hope, Evil Geniuses fail to provide top tier players against TOP2 team of the recent GSTL season. PuMa’s performance against Sheth proves that, although he still is better than most of the foreigners, he makes mistakes that can be easily spotted by them. JYP is still a valid player and guaranteed victor against most of the SlayerS players. Unfortunately, besides those 3 in match against top Korean team the rest of Team EG might not be enough.

SlayerS: MMA (T), Puzzle (P), Genius (P)

Current top protoss players and a legend who just recently got eliminated from Code S Ro32, where he played in a group of death against MaNa, TaeJa and Mvp are the focal points for SlayerS. However, you cannot underestimate other professional players like Miya, CoCa and Dark, who secured the victory for SlayerS after defeating Monster and Noblesse.

The Aces

Evil Geniuses: Stephano (Z)

There is no other player on Team EG with such a good game record against Koreans. He’s also the only non-Korean player who made it to the TOP10 of SC2Earnings placing fourth behind MC, Mvp and NesTea. He saved EG by killing TaeJa and HerO, the two stars of Team Liquid, and is definitely not afraid of any other big name in his group. Evil Geniuses will probably save him as their last resort after the whole team gets eliminated and it will be Stephano again to secure a victory for his team.

SlayerS: MMA (T)

After good performance during GSL, IPL Season 4 and IEM Hanover it is more than likely to see one of the best Terrans in the world tearing through his opponents yet again. The true power of MMA lies in his unpredictability. One day he’s losing in a group stage just to climb to the TOP3 of a huge international event the next weekend.

Prediction

Evil Geniuses 5 > 4 SlayerS

What will look as a close game at first will turn out to be a bloodbath at the very end. SlayerS will probably take the early advantage eliminating most of the Evil Geniuses players just to be stopped by Stephano at the end of the road. Match will  probably start with a quick 2-0 or 3-0 for SlayerS and then slowly, but steadily deteriorate to 4-4 with French Zerg securing the last victory. Notwithstanding, we all should hope for a showcase of skill and determination as this might not be as close as I assume, so both teams should definitely knuckle up and bring their A-game to the table. IPTL Season 1 is getting more and more interesting. Tune in on October 2nd to watch one of the most heated match in Premier Division Group A.
