From Cloverfield to Planet of the Apes

We recently heard that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt was dropping out of the film's sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, due to concerns over making the May 23, 2014, release of the movie. But Fox has wasted no time in replacing the helmer, with Cloverfield's Matt Reeves taking on the job.

Why Andy Serkis Could've Directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Coming Soon has confirmation on Reeves' hiring. The filmmaker, who recently dropped out of Warner Bros.' Twilight Zone remake, also made the vampire picture Let Me In, so his credits should certainly give some comfort to Apes fans who might be concerned over the loss of Wyatt.

Andy Serkis will return for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, once again playing the rebellious ape Caesar. No word yet on who else will join the cast of the film.
