Comedy Central has ordered a new stand-up comedy series called The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, starring Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani.
The show, which will showcase up-and-coming comedians, is executive produced by Red Hour's Ben Stiller, Ray, Nanjiani, Emily Gordon, Stuart Cornfeld, Debbie Liebling and Mike Rosenstein. According to Deadline, The Meltdown is based on a live comedy show produced by Gordon, which takes place in the back of Meltdown Comics on Sunset Blvd.
"Of all the comedy shows on Comedy Central, that are taped in the back of a comic book store, this will be the best one," said Ray, Nanjiani and Gordon.
In addition to featuring stand-up routines from comedians, the new series will also go behind the scenes with them as they prep their set and hang out backstage in the greenroom.
