Legendary Trades Batman vs. Superman for Interstellar

Legendary Pictures' eight-year union with Warner Bros. may have dissolved back in June, but that doesn't mean the production company has forfeited all stakes in Warners' major upcoming productions.

In addition to co-financing Seventh Son, 300: Rise of An Empire, and Godzilla, Legendary will now also have a hand in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. THR reports that Legendary will finance 25 percent or more of the project, which began shooting in Alberta, Canada last week.

Legendary also wanted a piece of Warners' Man of Steel followup (aka the Batman vs. Superman movie), but sources say that WB wanted to keep the studio's DC Comics properties to itself. Instead, Legendary was offered the aforementioned Interstellar deal, which Legendary CEO Thomas Tull happily accepted.

Following that, Legendary's slate of projects -- Mass Effect, Warcraft, Hot Wheels, etc. -- will be distributed by Universal Pictures, which inked a partnership deal with Legendary last month.
