Zynga Partners With Hasbro to Turn Its Board Game Apps Into Board Games

A partnership announced yesterday between Zynga and Hasbro will bring several of Zynga's popular social games to life, as board games. You know, sort of like Zynga's games brought Hasbro's board game properties, e.g. Scrabble and Pictionary, to life as online social games.

What's next? Words With Friends: the iPhone Game, based on the popular board game that was based on the popular iPhone game? It might be a few years before we see anything so elaborately craven, but it's already clear Draw Something is basically Pictionary, and Words With Friends is basically Scrabble.

CityVille has no obvious table-top analog, so it's becoming what appears to be a skinned-over version of Monopoly. FarmVille the board game won't even be called FarmVille: The Board Game. It's a game called Hungry Hungry Herd, based on - you guessed it - Hungry Hungry Hippos. The game comes with a code redeemable for 50 Farm Cash though, because apparently that's a thing.

Are you excited for the board game version of board game apps? Let us know in the comments.
