As a Twin Peaks fan, indulge me as a geek out a bit here... Agent Dale Cooper is teaming up with J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón!
Deadline reports that Kyle MacLachlan is joining the cast of NBC’s pilot Believe, executive produced by Abrams and co-written and directed by the acclaimed Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men).
MacLachlan, who recently reprised his role as The Captain on How I Met Your Mother and recurs on Portlandia, will play Skouras, “a mysterious billionaire with an even more mysterious agenda.”
Believe is about a young girl named Bo (Johnny Sequoyah) who possesses great powers that will come into their own in seven years. She is joined by Tate (Jake McLaughlin), a man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down. Sienna Guillory, Jamie Chung and Delroy Lindo are also part of the cast.
The other new J.J. Abrams-produced pilot, FOX’s untitled sci-fi project that re-teams him with Fringe’s J.H. Wyman, has also added to the cast, with Michael Irby (The Unit) and Mackenzie Crook (the original The Office, Pirates Of The Caribbean) joining as police employees.
That show is about a future where an LAPD officer, John Kennex, is partnered with a robot, Dorian (Michael Ealy). The role of Kennex is still to be cast.
