Is David Hayter Returning For Metal Gear Solid V?

David Hayter, the English-language voice for Solid Snake and Big Boss since 1998, may return for Metal Gear Solid V after all, if a cryptic tweet is to be believed.

Last month, Hayter spoke out about the fact that he wasn't asked to return for the next Metal Gear games and was quick to emphasise the decision wasn't his choice. But now it seems that things may have changed.

Last night, Konami tweeted that it'd be unveiling "the new voice of Snake" at a pre-E3 show on June 6. Among the myriad responses was one rather high-profile one; Hayter sent out the following teasing tweet which understandably has caused quite a lot of speculation.

I'm so excited for E3!I just hope I don't lose my voice.;-)

The fact that Konami is teasing a "new" voice for Snake, along with Hayter's previous insistence that he wouldn't be returning means this is probably just him joking that someone else will be taking up his mantle and he will, in a sense, be losing his voice; the voice of Snake that he's provided for years. Or it could be him hinting that fan uproar and a second round of negotiations have led to him rejoining the franchise. We'll know for certain in less than a week.

Hopefully E3 will also clear up whether or not Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes are the same game or not. At GDC back in March, series creator Hideo Kojima confirmed that both games will make up Metal Gear Solid V. Whether this means they're two separate games, or if Ground Zeroes is something along the lines of a downloadable prologue still isn't clear.

To make sure you get the answers to all these questions as soon as we do, be sure to keep your eyes on IGN's E3 coverage.
