There's no possibility of a sequel to cult favourite The Big Lebowski according to the Coen Brothers.
Speaking in Cannes at a press conference Inside Llewyn Davis, the filmmaking siblings categorically ruled out a follow-up despite several key actors from the original being interested in the project.
“John Turturro, who wants it, talks to us incessantly about doing a sequel about his (bowler) character Jesus,” said Ethan Coen.
“He even has the story worked out, which he’s pitched to us a few times, but I can’t really remember it ... No, I don’t see it in our future.”
Meanwhile, Joel Coen was even more straight to the point on the matter: “I don’t think it’s going to happen ... I just don’t like sequels.”
So it seems that The Dude won't be returning. And if you're disappointed by that news, you can always read our review of Inside Llewyn Davis, the Coen's latest film – we thought it was something really special.
