Assassin’s Creed Movie Lands Writer

New Regency and Ubisoft have found a writer for their Assassin’s Creed movie.

British playwright Michael Lesslie will adapt the game to the big screen, according to Heat Vision. Lesslie has no feature-film credits to his name, though he has written several short films. Michael Fassbender will star in and produce the movie.

You have to wonder what New Regency and Ubisoft see in Lesslie and what this indicates for their future movie plans, as they seem to be taking this Hollywood thing quite seriously these days. (They also have Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell in the works with The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy starring as Sam Fisher.) Maybe they're actually going for good writers instead of hot name recognition behind the camera?
