CBS in Talks for Two and a Half Men: Season 11

CBS continues to be a juggernaut when it comes to the success of their TV comedies and network president Nina Tassler spoke today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour on the heels of The Big Bang Theory hitting record numbers this week – with nearly 20 million viewers watching the latest episode.

But with Big Bang Theory guaranteed to return next year, it was the less certain future of Two and a Half Men that Tassler addressed up front, noting, “We’ve told Warner Bros we’d like to have an 11th season, and they’re equally interested.” Tassler told us to stay tuned, as contract negotiations began.

Tassler later clarified that currently no one is signed for Two and a Half Men beyond this season. “We don’t have our cast deals. But that’s the price of doing business every year.” She added, “The nice thing is this is a happy cast, these are happy people. We had a bit of a glitch, but what else is new?”

The “glitch” she was referring to was Angus T. Jones’ statements about the show in which he told people to stop watching, describing the series as “filth.”

Tassler downplayed the situation though and insinuated Jones would likely be part of the future of the show, should it return, saying, “You know what, the kid’s 19 year old. I have a 24 year old. So between the ages of 19 and 24, there are plenty of things my kid has said that I wish he hadn’t. But I think the bottom line is cooler heads prevailed. He’s been a beloved member of that cast for years and years and years and he issued a public apology . At the end of the day, they want him back and he wants to come back. He’s [at the table read] next week and that’s it. We move on. “

It was reported last month that How I Met Your Mother would be returning for a ninth season and it was assumed CBS would make it official today. However, it looks like those contracts aren’t quite finalized, though Tassler all but confirmed the show would return when she stated, “I will be happy to report in a very few days I believe that things will be resolved. We are very confident and excited that things will all work out. Almost everything is completed.”
