This is probably the best issue of Indestructible Hulk so far. It follows the same formula as the previous issues; Banner is working to set up his lab and team while making sure to take breaks to punch things for S.H.I.E.L.D. What makes this issue a notch above the previous two is it's simply more fun. The humor is kicked up a notch and there's more than one "that's so awesome" moment. Mark Waid seems to be able to do no wrong with Marvel books these days. If his name is on the cover, you should probably buy it.
There's a cinematic feel to this series, almost like it's a pitch for the best Hulk movie or TV show we'll probably never see. There's a new status quo, a sense of fun and excitement, and plenty of action. Waid gets it. He gets what makes a Hulk book great. Banner is a character, but the Hulk is simply a force of nature. When Banner Hulks out, everything changes. There's an awesome and epic feel to it, like the Hulk is too big to contain, like he's busting out of the pages.
As far as I am concerned, Leinil Yu draws the Hulk as good, if not better, than any artist who has ever handled the character. Waid writes the Hulk as larger than life and Yu draws him that way. When Maria Hill says that the Hulk is a WMD, you believe it. The green giant is bursting at his seems. His muscles and veins look like they are about to explode. Seriously, this is incredible stuff. Every page feels like it should be a poster. I just want to wallpaper my house with this book. It's freaking stunning.
