Sony: ‘Intriguing Game Announcements’ Coming This Week

With E3 a little more than a month away, and with Microsoft ready to reveal its next-generation Xbox on May 21st, it seems Sony may have some announcements up its sleeve that preempts both events.

In the European PlayStation Blog’s weekly recap, Sony’s Fred Dutton writes that Sony has “a busy week in the offing, with some intriguing game announcements planned.” What games, precisely, could Mr. Dutton be talking about?

It’s unclear, though rumors have been swirling about Gran Turismo 6 in particular, a game purported to be coming to PlayStation 3 later this year. A couple of retailers recently posted the game on their respective websites, indicating it’s real, but Sony’s continued to be silent about the plan for Polyphony Digital’s next game.

Other than Gran Turismo 6, it’s unclear what Sony may be announcing this week. E3 is certainly the time for the company to show off its PlayStation 4 offerings. Could we be in store for some PS3 and Vita goodness to add to the deluge of first-party games already coming out later this year, including Puppeteer, Rain, Tearaway and Killzone: Mercenary? We’ll find out soon enough.
