- To get an idea of how stacked the SC2 bracket really is, we were graced with Stephano versus HerO in Winners Round 2 on Day One. The series went to game three, and the DreamHack Winter champ successfully sent the IPL3 winner to the Loser Bracket early. HerO's run in the Winners Bracket continued as he went on to defeat Seed (2-1) and San (2-1). He will face Snute or viOLet tomorrow in WR5.
- HyuN walked onto the IPL stage in full boxing gear as the Fight Club champion. He made quick work of BBoong (2-0) staying true to his dominant reputation. Unfortunately, he would lose to Creator in the next round (1-2). He will face Stephano tomorrow in LR4.
- Surprisingly yet unsurprisingly, the Spanish brothers met once again in LR2. And as he has several times in the past, VortiX defeated his brother LucifroN (2-0). VortiX would go on to defeat ViBE (2-1). He will face DongRaeGu tomorrow in LR4.
- As she did at IPL4, Scarlett made an incredible run through the Winner Bracket as one of the longest lasting foreigners. Scarlett managed to defeat Drewbie (2-0), NaNiwa (2-1), and Ryung (2-0) before losing to Sleep (0-2) in WR4. She will face winner of DongRaeGu and VortiX tomorrow in LR5.
- In WR3, Leenock defeated current GSL champion Life in one of the shortest series of Day One. Life was highly favored to make it to the end of the Winners Bracket. Life will take on Sea in LR4 tomorrow. Leenock went on to sweep XiGua (2-0). Tomorrow, Leenock will face the winner of CranK vs. TheStC.
- TheStC surprised many by making an improbable run through the Winner Bracket. He managed to defy the odds by defeating GSL semifinalist Sniper (2-0) and Bomber (2-1) in one of the most intense series of the day. He will face CranK tomorrow in WR4.
