This weekend marks the culmination of the IGN Pro League's fifth season at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where the world's top gamers compete against each other in three titles for $300,000 in prize money and the privilege of being the best of them all. In no particular order, here are ten reasons why you should tune in to watch this weekend.
A Tournament of Champions The best players in the entire world will be competing this weekend in Vegas. IPL5 will be a tournament of champions and every competitor is capable of bringing home the gold. Nowhere else will you experience this caliber of skill showcased in first-person shooters, real-time strategy, and MOBA, all in one place.
Go Big or Go Home! Casinos aren't the only way to make big bucks in Las Vegas. At IPL5, hundreds of gamers -- amateur and pro -- will try their luck at taking home one of three $100,000 grand prizes in tournaments for ShootMania, StarCraft II, and League of Legends.
A New Challenger Has Appeared: ShootMania
IPL5 will be the first major ShootMania tournament in the United States. Recently developed by Ubisoft's Nadeo studio, ShootMania is new to the eSports scene, but without a doubt, the competition will be exciting and explosive with the potential to set the tone of all North American ShootMania competitions to come. IPL5's tournament may also affect the uptake of the game itself. If it becomes the "Next Big Thing" in eSports then being in Vegas at Ground Zero will be an event to remember.

IPL has spared no expense or effort in its goal of having the best possible coverage. This means that the best casters worldwide will be flying into Vegas to showcase their specialties. The best part of having such a large gathering of casters and being new to eSports is you get to sample so many at once. You'll find that there's a caster of every flavor and one, some, or all might make the games come alive for you. With the help of the community, IPL has narrowed down our IPL Caster Search from sixty four applicants to the final four, who will be casting with the big leagues in Vegas. Shane "Wyrd" Olivieri, Nathan "Nathanias" Fabrikant, Christopher "BuDDhA" Tajii, and Tim "RobinTivo" Frazier have one last chance to prove their casting skills and become a full-time IPL StarCraft II caster.
The Reemergence of the Riot Season 2 World Champions
IPL5 will be the first major international League of Legends tournament since the Taipei Assassins took the crown as the best LoL team in the world earlier this month. There will be an immense amount of pressure, both on them to perform as well as they did last time and on the other teams to try and overcome the might of Taipei. If you're struggling to pick what games to watch this weekend, it will be very worthwhile to follow TPA's journey as they defend their title.
GSL Code S Grand Finals
Thanks to our ongoing partnership with GSL, IPL and GOMTV are proud to showcase the GSL Code S Semifinals and Grand Finals during IPL5. Korean players Bogus, Ryung, Sniper, and Fight Club King HyuN will battle it out to close out the fifth season of 2012 for GSL Code S.
GSL World Championship
IPL5 is also thrilled to bring you the second iteration of the GSL World Championships. The tournament features five of the best South Korean players duking it out against "The World" all-star team. Last year, Korea was victorious. Will the World team get revenge and prove they have what it takes to take down the titans?
Ending the Year with a Bang
This will be the last major eSports event of the calendar year, the last chance to experience a large, live multigame tournament for quite some time. More than that, it could be six months or more until the next big IPL event. Since IPL is known for putting on one of the best all-round shows in eSports, IPL5 would be a great introduction to the scene.
