StarCraft II at IPL5 Day 2 Preview

The first day of IPL5 is complete, and already, we’ve seen and experienced exciting moments, surprises, upsets, and a number of incredible matches. But the best is yet to come. Here are some of tomorrow’s matches to look forward to as well as some notable names to follow throughout the tournament.

MATCHES TO WATCH

Creator vs. Polt in Winner Round 5

Creator did work today in the Winner Bracket, knocking down Shuttle (2-0), LeiYa (2-0), HyuN (2-1), and TaeJa (2-1). He looks nearly unstoppable. And while Polt is not nearly as intimidating as the Fight Club King or the DreamHack Winter runner-up, he’s still a force to be reckoned with.

aLive vs. Symbol in Winner Round 5

IPL4 champion aLive will finally make his tournament appearance tomorrow in WR5. He will take on Symbol, who defeated Sculp (2-0) and fan favorite MC (2-0) during day one. Everyone is excited to see if aLive will defend his title and repeat his dominant IPL performance.

HyuN vs. Stephano in Loser Round 4

IPL3 champion Stephano is, as he always is, a foreign hope this tournament. Unfortunately, he fell early to HerO in WR2 as did HyuN to Creator. The two titans are now looking for redemption tomorrow in LR4.

Life vs. Sea in Losers Round 4

No one expected to see Life in the Loser Bracket so early. The GSL champ will take on Sea, the newest Liquid recruit, in LR4. Sea surprised many today by defeating big names such as Genius (2-1) and Naniwa (2-0), and though he is considered the underdog, the series will certainly be exciting to watch.

PLAYERS TO FOLLOW

- Scarlett made it relatively far in the Winner Bracket by defeating Drewbie (2-0), NaNiwa (2-1), and GSL semifinalist Ryung (2-0) before falling to Sleep (0-2). She awaits the winner of DongRaeGu vs. VortiX in LR5, where she hopes to continue her run.

- TheStC pulled some insane upsets by sweeping GSL semifinalist Sniper (2-0) then defeating Bomber (2-1) in one of the most exciting series of Day One. TheStC will face fan favorite CranK tomorrow in WR4 and the winner of that will take on Leenock.

- The 2012 DreamHack Winter Champion HerO is doing incredibly well in the Winner Bracket. He defeated Stephano (2-1), Seed (2-1), and San (2-1). He waits to play either Snute or viOLet in WR5, and if he continues his current performance, he may see himself in another premier event final.

- The 2012 MLG Fall champion Leenock is absolutely on fire. He took out the highly favored Life (2-0) and the Chinese superstar XiGua (2-0), making it look easy. He will play either CranK or TheStC tomorrow, and if he plays like he did on Day One, Leenock will go very far.
